The bearing is open and supplied without sealing, so grease replenishment and contamination protection must be provided by the surrounding housing design. As there is no axial guidance of the outer ring, axial location must be handled externally. RSTO35 requires a hardened and ground shaft or track surface to run against, since it has no inner ring of its own, and mounting flexibility comes from the separate assembly of its components.
